The Employment Situation Report is out.....Check it out by clicking HERE
"Nonfarm payroll employment declined sharply in December, and the unemployment rate rose from 6.8 to 7.2 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. Payroll employment fell by 524,000 over the month and by 1.9 million over the last 4 months of 2008. In December, job losses were large and widespread across most major industry sectors"
Average hourly wages rose 0.3% in December which equates to a $0.05 increase...the average hourly wage is now $18.36. This is a smidge more than expected...
The average workweek fell to 33.3 hours, the lowest on record since the government began tracking the data in 1964.
November was revised to a loss of 584,000 jobs from 533,000. October payrolls were revised down to a 423,000 loss from 320,000. That is an additional 154,000 lost jobs ....584 + 423 = over a million jobs lost in 2 MONTHS....eww.
The markets reaction so far...."haha.... come on are you for real??....what's the real number????"
